Final Post
I believe this to be my final post for this site. Thanks to everyone who sent in the kind words and posted the kind messages over on EN World. I wrote up a preview article of 4th edition that I plan to send Morrus’s way once I’ve had someone edit it. I’ll likely post it here as well. In summary, I had a great time and I can’t wait to play 4e. The Wizards folks were great...

dnd.meetup.com
Stephen Wendell sent me an email with some solutions to the problem I brought up earlier. He mentioned that as an English speaker in France, he was in one of the more difficult situations for finding a good gaming group in the nearby area. His solution was to form a group using Meetup.com called “English-speaking Roleplaying Gamefreaks, Paris”. Meetup apparently has two different...

Geletenous cube defeated!
We killed Andy’s geletenous cube - an elite mob. He mentioned that the delve monster sheets may be online! I also talked to Rob Heinsoo and the fellow who wrote City of the Spiderqueen about NPC and monster advancement. Npcs advance as monsters not pcs and monsters advance by shifting into elite versions of the normal mob. Building npcs in the fly can be as fast as a couple of minutes. Same...

Late Start
We’re planning on doing a little gaming this Sunday morning but we’re going to get a late start so it may be just one or two delves. My hope is to meet more gamers overall - folks I will see at Gencon or perhaps around the Northern Virginia area. Yesterday I did an gamer interview with Gamer Zero and Blue. When they asked me what I fear most with 4e I mentioned my greatest fear and the...

Heading home
Three delves and a run through Sembia. Not a bad day. As hard as the creatures have been, I worry that level one guys will be too easy. Of course, the power curve may be a lot more shallow.

Rogue shadar-kai
This rogue fades in and out. When he comes back, his sword is on fire and hits with a 10 point fire hit ongoing.

Skill encounter details
Someone on enworld wanted more details on the skill encounter. Our first encounter was a traditional battle against city guards and a rogue who bribed them. When we had dispatched them a whole pile of new guards rushed our way. We were given the chance to roll skill checks against a variety of DCs of varying levels including easy(10) medium 15 and hard 20 different skills did different things. The...

Skill-based encounters
In our sembia adventure we just had a whole series of skill checks that followed our whole party as we were chased by the town guards. Barrels overturned. Walls climbed. People bullshitted with streetwise. Our victories and defeats all led to a final conclusion. It was awesome.

Play 4e Tonight
It looks like enough data has hit Enworld and the D&D forums to actually put together a meaningful level 1 adventures. Between the character sheets, the monster stat pics, the primer, and the D&D Miniatures 2.0 handbook, we have enough to put something together.  I plan on writing a two-night level 1 adventure using what we’ve found so my gaming group can have the same sort of fun I...

I posted larger pics of the minis and mini stat cards at Flickr. You can click “all sizes” to get the larger sizes that show the actual 4e stats. Enjoy!

Mini failure
Got completely destroyed in minis. Opponent had a beholder. I had a kobolds archer. Lost my fancy fountain pen somewhere. Didn’t get the stupid DOD cards. You have to play a dod1 game aparently. Not a good day so far. Back to the delve!

Finished delve.
I finished my first delve. Gnoll claw fighters sure have a lot of hitpoints. The ranger is a blast doing 1d10+1d8+4 on just about every shot. Now I’m waiting to get an rpga card to play in the minis. One thing I learned last year and this year is that the games aren’t very newbie friendly. Who knew I needed a rpga card.

Two podcast things
Two interesting things from the podcast. Weapons now have accuracy as well as damage. A character profient with a weapon gains +2 to hit. Rapiers are more accurate than warhammers. When a dm builds an encounter he or she does so with an experience budget. Every monster is worth a flat exp amount. The dm knows that each encounter should have say 5000 xp so he or she uses that many monsters like one...

Day two
As I await the roar of the elemental on the light rail, I listen to the latest D&d podcast. They’re being a little vague about multiclassing and I don’t know why. The books are just about in print. Maybe they think we won’t like what they came up with or worry about the true powergamers who love having levels in five different classes so they can game the rules. I realize...

Gamer Zero's DDXP Videos
I just saw that Gamer Zero posted a whole pile of videos from D&D Experience including just about the entire design and product release talk. That’s going to beat out my little iphone updates. Today I’m not expecting a while pile of news like we had yesterday but I plan to chat with the developers about a couple of things. Primarily on my list are the following: 1. Is there any...

D&D Experience Day 1 Summary
After a cold ride on the Metro, a cold walk back home, and a warm Korean dinner in my belly, I am finally home. How do I feel about D&D Experience? I feel like my head is going to explode. For months we’ve been reverse engineering 4e from every little scrap of paper a Wizards employee may have dropped on the ground with two digits on it. For months we’ve been building a compendium...
